Summer is almost in the rear-view mirror here in the U.S. Therefore, we at Island Pools & Patios thought it would be fun to offer you some tips for throwing the best end of the summer pool party.

Make Sure the Pool is in Optimum Condition

About a week before your party date, test all the equipment related to the swimming pool. This includes any jets, lights, and filters. Check that the chlorine and pH levels are adjusted, keeping in mind that 3.0 is the perfect number for chlorine residual.

On the day of the party, clean the pool to remove any excess debris. Also, check around the perimeter of the pool for potential trip hazards such as patio furniture or floatation devices. These should be cleared from the deck area to allow easy access in and out of the pool.

Prepare Amazing Food and Drinks

Playing in the pool and swimming is sure to leave all the guests hungry for snacks. Staple pool party foods include popsicles, chips, watermelon slices, pretzels, and dips. We also recommend firing up the barbecue to grill some hot dogs and burgers before the summer ends.

With the food sorted, you’ll also need to provide some delicious refreshments. Homemade lemonade is a popular choice, as well as tasty cocktails such as the Mojito, Daiquiri, or Long Island Iced Tea.

Prepare Some Pool Games

To help keep kids and adults entertained, you should consider planning some pool party games for your end of summer get-together. Some great pool games include a treasure hunt, volleyball, dolphins and sharks, and Marco Polo. It’s also a good idea to stock up on accessories such as rings, floats, noodles, and beach balls.

Set the Scene With a Great Soundtrack

Pre-load your Spotify playlist with your favorite summer jams to create a festive and fun atmosphere for your pool party. Classic songs include the Grease soundtrack and some Beach Boys classics. Background music helps to develop a sense of ambiance and nostalgia for your guests. Also, remember that you want everyone to be able to talk without having to shout, so make sure the music is played at a reasonable volume!
